The Negative Effect of Social Media on Society and Individuals

Social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace allow you to find and connect with everyone. Browsing these sites can make you feel connected to a larger community, but such easy, casual connection in an electronic environment can also have its downside.

Cyber-bullying

The immediacy provided by social media is available to predators as well as friends. Kids especially are vulnerable to the practice of cyber-bullying in which the perpetrators, anonymously or even posing as people their victims trust, terrorize individuals in front of their peers. The devastation of these online attacks can leave deep mental scars.
While many businesses use social networking sites to find and communicate with clients, the sites can also prove a great distraction to employees who may show more interest in what their friends are posting than in their work tasks. Wired.com posted two studies which demonstrated damage to productivity caused by social networking:

Privacy

Social networking sites encourage people to be more public about their personal lives. Because intimate details of our lives can be posted so easily, users are prone to bypass the filters they might normally employ when talking about their private lives. What's more, the things they post remain available indefinitely. While at one moment a photo of friends doing shots at a party may seem harmless, the image may appear less attractive in the context of an employer doing a background check. While most sites allow their users to control who sees the things they've posted, such limitations are often forgotten, can be difficult to control or don't work as well as advertised.

VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEM (VTS)

Monitoring the location of a truck, car or any moving vehicle using the GPS system. Widelydeployed to keep track of truck fleets, vehicle tracking ensures that the vehicles are being used properly and that they canbe recovered in the event they are stolen.

Relay in Real Time
Vehicle tracking relies both on the Global Positioning satellites (GPS) and a cellular system. A tracking module in thevehicle continuously picks up the GPS coordinates that indicate the real-time location of the vehicle. Using a cellular dataservice such as GPRS, the coordinates are immediately transmitted to the tracking company's computers. Customers log into the tracking company Web site to see their vehicles on road maps, similar to in-dash and handheld GPS-basednavigation systems

No Relay - Report Later
There are non-real-time tracking systems in which the in-vehicle module records the coordinates, but does not relay them forreal-time monitoring. The data are downloaded from the module when the vehicle is returned at the end of the trip

Samsung Galaxy S6 Vs iPhone 6

Samsung Galaxy S6: 5.1-inch, QHD '2K' Super AMOLED, 577ppi, 536 nits brightness
iPhone 6: 4.7-inch, 1334 x 750 IPS LCD, 326 ppi, 504 nits brightness
Size is the first big difference when comparing screens. The S6 packing a significantly larger screen, which means more room for enjoying your videos and browsing the web.
The next is resolution. The S6 also benefits from the same resolution upgrade as the Note 4 and as a result is sharper than the iPhone 6's display. There's still a debate about how useful 2K displays are on a small screen and most will probably not appreciate the differences. If your desperate for cutting-edge tech then the S6 is the winner here. Unless you look very closely, though, you won't notice the difference in sharpness.
There's differences in the display technologies as well, and these have a bigger impact. While Apple uses LCD, Samsung opts for OLED and as a result the S6 delivers perfect black levels and impressive contrast ratio that make it more suitable for watching films. The slightly over saturated colours you get with the S5 is not as problematic this time round on the S6, particularly when you choose a more tasteful colour setting. The iPhone 6 on the other hand delivers strong viewing angles and good colour accuracy.
So yes, the iPhone 6 has a great screen, but the S6 is offering something new and innovative with its 2K display and wins this round.

Is communication technology bringing families closer together?

To the busy family, stressed by work schedules, commuting and multiple after-school activities, the mobile phone seems like the perfect tool to knit the family together during the day. The majority of families claim they communicate more using such technology, know each other better and find that it makes practicalities and logistics much easier during the week.

Some families use more recent services such as WhatsApp and Kik to communicate. Figures show that parents with these services communicate five times more with each other, and eight times more with their children. However, children are also adept at using communication platforms such as Instagram and SnapChat specifically for communicating with friends.

Not surprisingly, new communication services have created new worries for parents. The report shows that parents now set more rules and practice more active device management for their children. Of the families interviewed, 72 percent said that use of mobile phones was restricted as a punishment.

However, even if communication technology has an overall positive impact on families, there are still some drawbacks. Kornblad, says: “The study shows that we should be aware that our obsession with our phones and our tablets is eating into our valuable family time. Children want more face-to-face communication with their parents during the week, and communication technology will not solve this.
